STREAMING VIDEO
on Mar 8, 2006 at 3:44:20 pm

Hi there.

Can someone tell me how to control streaming parameters via action script, without Flash Comm server access?

I set up clip as Net Comm object per Lesson 1 @ gotoandlearn.com. And now the clip plays brilliantly once downloaded.

But heres the thing.

"How can i get it to start at the point it knows it can finish without stuttering??????"

I hope this is achievable without Flash Comm Server!!!!

Cheers

Go a bit further through Lee's tutorials until you get to the buffering message. That will explain how to set the amount of the FLV file for flash to buffer before beginning to play. It doesn't guarantee it won't run out of buffer and skip, and you have to test the buffer settings on your server to see how long you need. It will depend on how fast your server is, how long the FLV file is, and what the datarate of the FLV is.
