Converting video to flv
on Feb 21, 2006 at 8:58:50 pm

What is the best way to convert a video to an flv file? My video is in Final Cut so it can be exported in any number of files to begin with. What type of file should I start with for optimal quality? I will also be changing the size, if that matters...

With the Flash 8 Video Encoder, you can export to flv from within Final Cut Pro. It becomes one of your export options after installing Flash 8 Pro, that would be the ideal way to send it out since it will render from the source material.

Yes I second that. You want to avoid double-compressing your files. It will add artifacts and quality loss. Straight out from FCP is the ticket. If you have to do it another way try a lossless codec like the QT animation codec
