I have created an animated sequence with a
humanistic character with lip sync in MAYA.
I have rendered out the sequence using the
vector renderer in Maya ( same Swift 3D engine)
and created a .swf file.
I have brought that .swf file intio FLASH 8
and used it as a layer over an illustrated bg
(comic book style )
//the alpha capabilities of Flash 8 work wonders
I would like to add some detail on a layer over top the swf
file, which means rotoscoping, most likely frame by frame.
Example: I want to add a better outline and eye detail
that will follow the nice flow of animation from
Maya. May even add a shadow pass ( not a drop shadow
but body shadows....)
The ultimate effect will just look like great animation
with nice inked-line quality....or so I hope...
Would it have to be frame by frame Onion skin?
Is Onion skin the only way?
Does flash 8 have motion tracking capabilities?
Am I asking for a headache?
Yes unfortuantely it would have to be done manually. The only thing that could potenitally work is to add some filters to your 3D render inside of Flash. I'm not usre if this will give you the effect you want. The only other thing, which would get very technical, would be to use the BitmapData class on your renders to manipulate it at runtime. Look at the code exmaple I put at http://theflashblog.com/?p=134.
