help with "goto" from a movie clip
on Jan 31, 2006 at 6:54:51 pm

I am new to flash... help. I am trying to do rollover "buttons" that go to somewhere. I found a script that uses a movie clip to do the fancy rollover, but I can't get it to GO! I WANT TO GO TO SCENE 2 FRAME 1. HELP PLEASE ANYONE!!
this is what I have:

this.onEnterFrame = function(){

if(rewind == true){

this.onRollOver = function(){

rewind = false;

this.onRollOut = function(){

rewind = true;

this.onRelease = function() {

gotoAndPlay("Scene 2", 1);

you may need to reference the _root timeline:

_root.gotoAndPlay ("Scene 2", 1);

Did you try throwing a trace action into the onRelease function to see if it's being called when you click on it?

I tried the _root and that did not work. You mentioned "trace action" - I don't know what that is.

So am I going about this a dumb way? I want a cool rollover button that goes to another scene. When I was working in button mode I couldn't get the picture to be transparent, so I started with this whole movie clip thing.
