Jumping Around the Timeline
on Jan 16, 2006 at 6:07:16 am

Is there anyway to specify a button to go to and play a certain amount of frames in the timeline and then jump to another area of frames and start playing? For example, Play frames 50-70 and then jump to and play frame 100. I'm sure there must be. I'm no expert with actionscript and can't find any tutorial to help me out with this. Thanks.

Well, you can put an action on the maintime line at frame 70 that says gotoAndPlay(100); after you've directed the playheead to frame 50 via a normal onClick();

Just put a stop action on frame 49 to keep it from going past 49.

What else are you trying to do? You might be able to contain all the action from frame 50 to 70 within a movie clip and just have that movie clip appear on the stage at the appropriate time.

Many ways to do the basic jumping, but with more explanation of what you're trying to accomplish, maybe a better method will pop up.
