Passing mouse events
on Jan 10, 2006 at 6:20:33 pm

I'm using the Swiff Point Player 2 to insert Flash animation into powerpoint. (Excellent tool, makes it very easy to add Flash to Powerpoint.)

In most cases, we use it to add looping, full-screen animation to the first slide of a Powerpoint presentation for walk-in before the presentation begins. Everything works great, space bar or page down stops the animation and moves to the next slide.

The problem occurs if the presenter clicks the mouse to advance. This causes the presentation to stall on the animation slide and the presentation can't be advanced with a keyboard or mouse event. The only resolution is to ESCAPE, which quits the animation, and also drops Powerpoint out of slideshow mode.

My guess is that the mouse click has activated the Flash event queue and all keyboard and mouse events are being handled by Flash and are no longer passed to Powerpoint.

Anyone have any idea about how to pass the events back to Powerpoint, or to ignore them in the first place?

Thanks in advance,
