Playing .swf files on my Mac???
on Dec 8, 2005 at 6:10:56 am

Hi,

I don't actually use Macromedia Flash but an animation program called Toon Boom. However, my question is Flash-related (I think) so I hope I'm not 'intruding' too much. Would much appreciate some help.

I'm trying to play .swf files on my mac but I just can't find a player anywhere. I have the Internet (downloadable) Flash Player on my computer but it won't play .swf files. It's pretty annoying because on my PC I can just download a swf player and all is well. On my Mac, however, I can't find 'anything' that will play them.

When I try to play them it just opens Illustrator, which (of course) does nothing.

Another weird (but interesting) thing is that, though I've loaded Macromedia's Flash Player from the Internet I can't actually find the 'player' anywhere on my computer. I've had 'computer guys' look for it too, to no avail. What's with that?

Your answers would help a lot.

Thanks in advance,

ALEX KUZELICKI

try opening them in Safari or (heaven forbid) Internet Explorer.

it's likely that the "player" you downloaded was actually a browser plugin.

Control clicking your swf in the finder will open a dialog menu. Select Open with... and look for SAFlash Player whatever version of flash player yo uhave. Mine is SAFlash Player (Default) 8.02 r2 and appears first in the list.
