Lee's new form mail tutorial
on Nov 27, 2005 at 4:14:45 pm

1st....I haven't been able to load any movies at the gotoandlearn.com site. Is there something wrong there?

2nd....Cudos to Lee for all of his tutorials. Seems like everytime I'm ready to add something new to our website, Lee has just put up a very useful tutorial to help me get it done. However, I've been messing with the form mail tutorial and I'm having some trouble. I basically have the same setup as the tutorial in flash with an added subject area. I just can't get it to send any mail. Every time I go to fill out the form, I get the error message that the mail didn't send. If I recall correctly (since I can't get any movies to load) you mentioned that apache was your webserver? I'm not an admin on our server, but I know we're running some flavor of Linux. Could my problems be related to the fact that we're running a different webserver or are the PHP calls pretty standard from one to the next? I would assume they would be the same, but I really don't know. Here's my action script and php file:

stop();

var senderLoad:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
var receiveLoad:LoadVars = new LoadVars();

sendButton.onRelease = function() {
senderLoad.theName = theName.text;
senderLoad.theEmail = theEmail.text;
senderLoad.theSubject = theSubject.text;
senderLoad.theMessage = theMessage.text;
senderLoad.sendAndLoad("send.php",receiveLoad);
}

receiveLoad.onLoad = function() {
if(this.sentOk) {
_root.gotoAndStop("success");
}
else {
_root.gotoAndStop("failed");
}
}

$to = "todd@toddandkaren.net";
$subject = "FragFestOhio Contact Form Submission";
$message = "Name: " . $theName;
$message .= "nEmail: " . $theEmail;
$message .= "nSubject: " . $theSubject;
$message .= "nnMessage: " . $theMessage;
$headers = "From: $theEmail";
$headers .= "nReply-To: $theEmail";

$sentOk = mail($to,$subject,$message,$headers);

echo "sentOk=" . $sentOk;

?>

Any advice?
