Navigate within a movie clip
on Nov 22, 2005 at 9:14:23 pm

Hello, I am running into a snag and I would like your help, Okay I have a movieclip (name "galve") and in that movie clip I have an object. The movie clip id on my second layer and my button is on the 1st layer. I would like to know the action script to put on the button that would navigate to the spicific frame of the movie clip.

I know this would not work

on(press) {
gotoAndPlay(4);
}
Is ther a way around this instead of putting the button within the movie clip? Help

You have to name the movieclip in the Property inspector first. In this case, it is called galve. Then, with the button outside of the clip, the scripting might look like:

on (release) {
galve.gotoAndStop (4);
}

Since flash is dot delimited, this means that you are telling the movieclip object to go to and stop on frame 4.
