FLV Playback Control HELP!!!!!!!!
on Nov 17, 2005 at 4:20:22 pm

I have seen that others have had this problem because I read through the forum, but I didn't really understand the solutions. What I'm trying to do is build a site that has a linked FLV files with cue points that trigger speaker support slides to changes with the cue points. I'm using flash 8 with the FLVPlayback I did my test with the FLV having embeded event cue points I put the listner code on the maintime line but nothing is happening. I'm really under the gun here if anyone can shead some light on this please help.

thanking you in advance
Rallim

Please post your code so we can take a look at it. But below is the basic code to respond to FLVPlayback cue points...

var cueList:Object = new Object();

cueList.cuePoint = function(cues) {
trace("Cue point fired");
}

yourPlaybackComponent.addEventListener("cuePoint",cueList);

Hello Rallim,

Here's what I did for my project: http://www.bcinteractive.net/jestarx

// this script in a script channel in same frame as video
stop();

This script on the Flash Playback instance (you wont need the time code reader and my_ta script I used to verify the cue points

//start script
var my_flvPb:mx.video.FLVPlayback;
var my_ta:mx.controls.TextArea;
my_flvPb.contentPath = "07Katzman.flv";
var listenerObject:Object = new Object();
listenerObject.cuePoint = function(eventObject:Object) {
my_ta.text += ": "+my_flvPb.playheadTime+"n";
nextFrame();
};
my_flvPb.addEventListener("cuePoint", listenerObject);
// end

It works great to wait for a cue point and jump frames.

I also used this script for the same project to jump to another video (swf) when then last cue point is triggered. I placed it in the script channel where the stop() was:

if (this == Number(this)) {
loadMovieNum("leadin.swf", this);
} else {
this.loadMovie("leadin.swf");
}
