I'm creating my first editing/shooting demo reel right now and have some questions on how, exactly, I should go about it. I have been working for a professional production company, mostly part-time, since 2009 with a year-long gap from 2011-2012. While I am fortunate to have this job and it's flexibility, I have basically maintained an assistant position. Although I am currently the main camera operator, most of my editing has been on extremely simple jobs or, basically logging and organizing footage. Now I want to start applying for assistant editor positions, but most of what I've worked on was handed off and finished by our primary editor. So, what are the ethics around putting projects like that in my reel? Also, any tips on cutting a reel consisting of a lot of relatively dry corporate/small business interviews and presentations would be appreciated.
