Hi guys, I`m putting together my actor demo reel and the majority of footage I have is 720x480. Dissappointing because I want to make my reel look modern. I would like to make the reel HD, or at least widescreen so that it looks more recent.
I know that HD means footage will be widescreen, but does the reverse hold true? If footage is widescreen, does it mean it is HD?
Right now I`m thinking of starting my project in a 720p sequence in Premiere Pro and using Red Giant`s Instant HD to uprez my clips...
I would make it HD. Now you need to decide if you are going to keep your SD (720 by 480) footage a square and leave black on the sides or zoom in to make it look 16 x 9. Depending on how the shot it composed that may not be possible. Me personally, I think having the footage feel the screen looks better in most cases. The challenge is we may be having this conversation again down the road with 4k footage :-)
