Editing For Demo Reel
on Oct 1, 2005 at 4:44:39 pm

Hello,

I am working on an updated demo reel. There are a couple of projects that I would like to include to display some of my editing and graphics work. The problem with these two projects is that they are both in excess of 10 minutes long so I can't put them in their entirety on my reel.

My question is. Is it best to take what I think is my best, solid minute of the project while paying little regards to that minute making any sense? Or should I recut each of these projects into a 1 minute montage?

Some questions I have about this are:

1. Wouldn't recuting the projects destroy the original editing, which is what I am trying to display in the first place?
2. Would the viewer of the demo reel be too distracted trying to make sense of a 1 minute clip to pay attention to graphics and editing technique?
3. Is there any sort of industry rule that applies to a situation like this?

Any help is very much appreciated.

Thank You,
-Eric
