How to make RGB split effect in Motion 5?
on Sep 28, 2011 at 4:28:58 am

I used After Effects for a short time than fell in love with Apple Motion.

I remember was super easy to make RGB Split effect in AE but i`m not finding a way to make it in motion.

There`s anyway I can do that?

I wanna make it as a transition .

Thanks

What do you mean by split effect. Crossprocess effect, emulating a cross process look.

If so, I have a tutorial on http://www.embryo.me.uk where I cover this technique in detail.

No , i mean RGB Split, almost like the old "3D without the glasses" effect.

I achieve it with couple filters in motion, i was trying to make as close as possible to the Twitch effect from VideoCopilot.

I achieved it with Prism, Earthquake and Directional Blur, using wiggle or oscillate (i left both on my rig) and a link behavior to both earthquake and directional blur amount.

Pretty happy with the results.

I am working on a project right now where the client would like to have this effect.
Is there no Separate Channel effect in Apple Motion 5?
We have it in Final Cut Express!

The Channel Mixer filter (in the Color Correction category) should get you there.

duplicate the video twice with the filter applied, create R, G, and B versions, and shift the positions of 2 of them.

For me the PRISM filter did the trick. Just using behaviors to animate the parameters
