I was hoping someone could help me with drawing a shape. I come from an Illustrator background and I am trying to draw what's called a compound object in illustrator, but not sure how to go about it in motion. Specifically, I am trying to cut out the inside of an object, so that it is a compound shape, the inside not being filled. (an example would be a donut)
As Mark said use a mask.
Motion doesn't allow compound paths in quite the same way Illustrator does.
However you can achieve all the same effects by using multiple masks on the same object, and playing with the mask blend modes. It somewhat resembles the Pathfinder in Illustrator.
Brendan, please forgive me. I'm not an illustrator guy. So I hope this information is helpful:
Create a shape such as a circle, go to the shape tab and uncheck fill and then check outline. Then you get a donut. Hope this is what you are looking for. Other wise you would need to create a mask or something. Best of luck.
