Project Setting for 1920x1080 24p

Hello,

I shoot green screen footage with a Panasonic HMC 150 and then Log / Transfer to Pro Res 422. I edit and composite in FCP 7 and am starting to get into using Motion 4.

What should my project settings be in Motion 4 to work with my 1920x1080 24p footage?

Also, when I "send" my composited clips to Motion 4, my "key's" are no longer working.

Thanks for the help and advice.

When you send your clips to Motion from FCP, Motion creates a project with the proper settings. You don't have to do anything. If you're wondering though, the Motion setting should match your FCP settings. In other words, 1920x1080 @ 23.98fps.

As far as your second question...keys to not translate from FCP to Motion because Motion uses a different keying filter. You should just try keying in Motion.

Thank you for the reply.

What keying filter would you suggest in Motion 4. Or is there a 3rd party plug-in for Motion 4? Primatte is avail in Motion 4 but it's kind of a joke.

I was just going to try the latest Keylight for FCP 7. It's not avail for Motion 4. Would it be best to key in FCP, export and then import in Motion either directly or again through FCP and the "send to" function? My goal is to re create this......

Thanks for the help.

Rick

I agree, Primatte RT isn't very good although I've heard the full version works well. I use DVMatte Pro and it's fantastic. Best of all, when you install it, it appears in both FCP AND Motion (but keying in FCP still won't show up in Motion). It's also very affordable.
