I'm trying to modify one of the library backgrounds using client-supplied pantone colors but can't figure out how to access that palette. Any suggestions - thanks,

Use this site to convert Panatone to RGB:

http://www.goffgrafix.com/pantone-rgb-100.php

Then use the OSX color picker (which you can open within Motion by clicking any color swatch in the HUD or Inspector, go to the RGB picker, and type in the RGB values.

Really helpful website Mark. I hate dealing with Panatone colors.

You should be aware, and you should also inform your client, if their color choice falls outside of "broadcast safe".

And you should warn your client that their color will probably not look the same, even if it is broadcast safe. there's a number of reasons for this.

Video (both RGB and YUV color space) does not display colors the way they look on paper.

Nobody calibrates their TV or computer monitor. And those few who do probably don't do it correctly.

By the time it gets onto someone's TV or computer, it's been transcoded and recompressed a number of times, through several changes of color space.

Yeah I'd use it as a rough guide- getting accurate Pantone in broadcast video would be like trying to bowl on the space station...
