Apple Motion and vector images

first of all - sorry for my "google" english

second: I need to work with vector images, but I noticed that Apple Motion accepts only pdf images. Is it right?

I try to convert AI or SVG files with Automator, but I failed.

Thanks. Alex

You can import AI files into Motion and if set right you can maintain its vector quality.

Your Illustrator file needs to be RGB and not CMYK. Be sure to save the AI file with PDF compatibility. After you bring it into Motion, just select it, press Shift+F (takes to you the Media tab), then uncheck the Fixed Resolution checkbox. This will allow the vector image to be rasterized at whatever size it is on-screen. Hope this helps.

thank you very much Stephen!

I knew the "fixed resolution" checkbox, but not the AI - CMYK incompatibility..
So, I just have to find an automatic way to convert them.

thanks to you and to all of you!
Alex

I came out of my Windows illustrator as a PDF compatible .ai file.
Apple Motion will not read the CS4 noway-no how.
Is it another..."gee, you better buy the Mac version of the Adobe Suite" ????

Can you upload an AI file so I can take a look at it? Use the File Upload button which is the last icon that is a floppy disk symbol.

Sorry Mark, it opened up with no problems on my machine. I looked at the manual and it doesn't say that the file needs to be created on Mac version of the program. See if this AI file works.

I took the 366_test.ai from the desktop and saved in in a test directory, but whether I imported
from the file\import menu or from the media import + button or the media\import function the
366_test.ai is greyed out.

I am running Motion 3.02

I'm not sure why it is not working. My best guess is to trash your preferences. Take a look at this article.

I just trashed the preferences and it still doesn't work.
Luckilly I still have 3ds Max and Adobe Suite CS4
