Why are the same pictures better quality in motion, when zoomed in compared to FCP's poorer quality?

Check your sequence rendering settings.

Final Cut Pro's scaling algorithm is inferior to Motion's. Search the the FCP forum for posts regarding FCP's poor scaling.

I wouldn't go that far. As long as you use the HQ settings in your sequence settings it should look the same.
