Page Peel

I'm looking for a plug-in that creates a page peel for Motion. One that works with Alpha Channels and lets you animate the page curl so you can choose to not let it peel all the way. Basically, one that operates like the AE page curl. And I'm looking for an answer other then "use AE then". Thanks.

Any luck on finding this Stephen?
I have searching aimlessly and have not found anything yet.

Thanks, Chad

Sorry, I have not had any luck. I was hoping that that would be included with Motion 4, but no dice. If you find anything let me know.

How about using the Page Peel transition in FCP, then exporting a MOV with an alpha channel?

Thanks Alex, but for me, the Page Peel transition in FCP won't let you place an object such as a .psd with an alpha channel in its back. If you do, it turns the Alpha Channel black. Hopefully Motion 5 will have a page peel much like After Effects. Just my two cents.

What about using the CURL filter in FCP? That's pretty controllable.

Steve,
The Curl filter is really cool and I didn't know about it. However, it will not work with alpha channels as well. Instead of making a part of an image see through where the alpha channel is it makes it black. If you wanted to flip though an old book with rough (torn) edges it would be black on the edge whereas in After Effects it will be transparent.

That's right, I forgot about it not working with the alpha channel. Oh well, worth a try. Good luck!

Looks like I'll keep using After Effects for my page peels.

I have an idea...

What if you use the curl feature in FCP, duplicate your media and stack them on V2 and V3, leaving V1 empty. Then with the copy on V2, play with any of the color, gamma, or brightness & contrast controls until you have what is essentially an alpha channel. Then set the composite mode on the V3 copy to Travel Matte Luma.

The V3 clip will use what lies directly beneath it as a Matte. White shows, black is transparent and passes through to whatever lies on V1.

Francis,
Thanks for the idea but AE is much easier to use with a page peel. Take a look at this

I did.

Good news for anyone on Motion 5. The page peel was added.
