Revealing while painting.
on Oct 13, 2008 at 9:07:00 am

Hi all.
I have a Logo(tiff) on top and a video clip(QT) below it.
I want to do this:
I want the logo to start be revealing on top of the video (like we paint with a brush) for a duration of 3 seconds.
Can someone tell me how to do that?
I have been trying to find this out but no luck...!!!

Or if you can point to a tutorial.

Thanx!

Create a mask that will cover the logo and the move the key off the logo over a 3 sec duration. It will cause the logo to reveal over a 3 second duration.

I want to make it feel like it is painting.

Thanx.

Here is a quick and rough sample of using an animated mask and the pen tool.

I had the logo in a group and the scribble mark in a separate group. In the scribble group, I used the pen tool and made a scribble mark across the logo to cover it completely. I used the options in the inspector to make the line thick enough to cover the space completely. I then adjusted the key frames on First Point Offset and Last Point Offset to make it look like the scribble was moving across the screen.

I then created a mask using the bezier mask tool to cover the logo. I made sure the leading edge was angled roughly to match the angle of the scribble marks. I then animated the position of the mask from left to right to reveal the logo as the scribble mark moved along the logo.

I hope this helps. I will upload a video tutorial of this on my website when I get the chance today. I will post here when it is live.
