How to make masks work with 3D layers?
on Aug 11, 2008 at 8:07:42 pm

What I want to do is have two 3D layers, each with their own image mask. Unfortunately, I can't work out how to build them in such a way that I can reposition each layer in 3D space.

I'm aware that there's an issue with applying masks to 3D layers, but the Help for Motion isn't all that clear on the finer points. I've put each layer into its own group and ticked the "flatten" box for both, but when I go into the Top view on the 3D camera and try and move one of the layers closer to the camera, it doesn't actually move as expected, and when I orbit or dolly, it's clear that both layers aren't separated at all.

Any advice gratefully appreciated...

This problem should not be accruing at all, that's probably why no one has responded to your post. Any way you can put your project up on your site or e-mail it?
