Scrolling Text in Motion

Hi. I am a NOVICE at Motion and it may be overkill for what I am trying to do.

I am creating credits for a film and when I use the Scroll Text feature, the speed ramps up and ramps back down at the beginning and the end of the scroll. How do I turn this off so the speed of the scroll is consistent?

Thanks!

Gayle

In the keyframe editor change the properties of the motion gradient to 'linear'.

Hi Jeremy,

Pretend I am even more of a novice than that...

Your advice sounds like it will work. I found that there is indeed a curve to the keypoints on my scrolling text...

However, I don't see where to change the properties to linear. (I am using Motion 2.0.1)

Thanks!

Gayle

Hi Gayle

Open your project.

Under file item 'Window' check 'Keyframe editor'.

In the keyframe editor work out which of the graphs represents your scrolling text. (move the lines and it will become clear but be sure to edit undo after each move!)

Hint: Since it has a variable speed the graph you are looking for will be 'curvey' (probably like an elongated S).

Note it has a diamond shape at either end (the keyframes)

Control click on this diamond shape at either the start or the end of the elongated 'S'.

Choose interpolataion/linear.

The 'S' should change to a straight line.

Scrolling should then move at a constant speed.

Regards
Jeremy
