distorting a static image ideas?
on May 7, 2008 at 8:35:07 pm

I have a still image of the human heart and I am trying to add simple squash and stretch with bulging in the chambers to represent an external view pf the beating heart.

I have tried the fish eye filter with moderate results but nothing comparable to the 3D I output for another purpose.

An FX with multiple distort points that would effect only a region of the image would be ideal, something akin to the liquefy effect in Photoshop.

Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You first evaluate your need for realism or accuracy.
Then you figure out what you can spend in terms of time and money.
Faking a beating heart with distortion filters is a certain path to wasted time and your client calling you names. Search for and buy a pre-made animation sequence.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: "For crying out loud, read the freakin' manual."

Thanks bogiesan-

I'm coming to that conclusion, too. I was looking for a way to speed up our turn-around and avoid the long renders to HD.
Alas, there is no shortcut to quality.
