Motion integration with 3D software
on May 22, 2007 at 12:14:48 pm

Hi there,

Does anyone knows the existence of integration between Maya, Cinema 4D or any other 3D application with Motion 3 just like After Effects does??

Thank you very much!

The 3D in the new version of motion is not true 3D, it lets you work in 3D spaces, but not with 3D objects, other then particles created in motion.

There is a lot more to this version than just 3d planes, no doubt we will be finding new col things for a while.

Thanks guys,
Motion 3 it's a great "all in one" software and it has made huge improvements from 2. I received it yesterday and it keeps me really busy. I hope next version includes the integration of 3D software.

I think there's a great opportunity for a plugin to accept camera data(listening Peter?). Motion is not *true* 3D in the sense that objects don't have depth. But the camera does move in XYZ space. Therefore, camera data exported from a 3D application could in theory be applied to Motion's camera and then you could add things like paint and titles into existing 3D animations with the right plugin.

Well, I'm listening and believe me we had about 3 plugins to go with 3D space, but it looks as if they are not going to see the light of day now.

[Noah Kadner] "Motion is not *true* 3D in the sense that objects don't have depth."

Internally generated objects do, such as particle emitters, replicators etc. The big problem is anything you bring in externally at the moment is a flat pane.

What about going the other way? Drive a 3D scene in another app with a Motion scene. I know I would love to be able to integrate Motion stuff with 3D animation one way or the other.
