Simple Counter
on Feb 25, 2007 at 5:05:14 am

Hi,

I'm a newbie and have searched for this with no success...

I want to create a simple numeric counter that counts from 1901 to 2007 (yes I want to have this text faded in some video that shows the history of a company).

Don't want any fancy motion or effects, just 1901..1902 etc.

Any ideas apart from creating these frames manually?

Cheers!

Apply the Numbers effect (Effects > Text > Numers) and keyframe the start and end values.

Sorry!
Wrong forum. There isn't a Numbers effect in Motion.
I didn't realize I changed forums! Sorry.

You have to employ a rather tedious workaround.
Design the object or background in which the years are supposed to appear, type in the beginning year, duplicate times however many years you have, go in and change the years for each one and spread the text objects along the time line, one butting up to the next. For a faster count, make the duration of each text object short, for a slower count increase the duration.Put it all into its own layer and then you can apply behaviours to the layer, like throw, to make the counter move across the screen.
It is tedious but it works.
