Alpha Channel in Motion
on Jan 13, 2007 at 6:13:11 pm

In the Apple Motion posts, there has been made several comments about how to bring in a file from Motion, just by "dragging the icon from the top bar and command+tab into FCP". Can anyone elaborate on this wonderful and render free way of getting my motion files with an alpha channel into FCP?

PS: I know how to make a proper alpha channel in Motion, just dont want to render my lower thirds if I dont have too.

Gratefully yours,

Steve

You can import a motion project into FCP

You can import a Motion project into FCP just like any other movie file. In FCP use File>Import>Files and navigate to the motion project you want to import.

But you will still need to render the file in your FCP timeline. The benefit is that you don't need to render or export out of Motion first, so you only need to render one time, not two.

This keystroke combo only reveals the application switcher in the Finder.
