How to grow a business?
on May 11, 2017 at 11:17:30 am

Good morning all
We are a small business providing online marketing to small and medium sized businesses. My question is, other than marketing online what else would you advise to help take a business to the next level? To reach out to the larger businesses throughout the UK? please help.

I didn't find the right solution from the internet.

This probably isn't the answer you're looking for, but I think that most will tell you it's primarily word of mouth. I've been in business for myself for about 5 years now and when I started out, I had this dream/misconception that I'd put up a great website, work on SEO, post to social media, and the $$$ would come rolling in.

For me, almost all of my business comes from word of mouth. I'll do a job for a client, they'd tell someone else about me, that person would call, etc.

It takes time, but that's the way I've been able to build steady business. You might try some networking clubs or events and try that out. I hope you're successful! It has been a hard road with some lean times for me, but things are finally going great!

Good luck!

The process may vary for different businesses but still I want to share my own experience here. We started with only SEO to get traffic as well as to get potential customers organically and I must say we have grown to a good extend from that. After that we started doing paid advertising as well and it did help our business to grow more. Along with these I want to add the advantage of positive word of mouth, yes it also really helps in many ways.

Here are some of the activities successful small business owners complete to place their focus on the future and keep moving forward.
1. Use Goal-Setting to Push Boundaries: Goal setting can be a great way to clarify your focus, measure progress and track achievements.
2. Put the Focus on Customer Service: Being able to retain desirable clients plays a significant role in the continued success of a small business. Not only does having regular customers mean regular income, but happy clients can also provide powerful word-of-mouth marketing.
3. Commit to Continuous Learning: Continuous learning can take the form of online training, self-paced programs, collaborative opportunities, mentoring, and even reading.
4. Learn How to Delegate: Whether you have employees, subcontractors or family pitching in, learning how to delegate effectively can be the difference between reaching new heights and burning out.
5. Increase Your Productivity: The more effective you are when it comes to completing the day-to-day business management tasks, the more potential your small business has for greater success. You can boost your productivity by developing systems to streamline these processes.
6. Stay Current with Technology: Technology plays a role in every business, so all small business owners can benefit from not only having an understanding of the technology that impacts them directly but also keeping track of how it changes.
7. Change Up Your Marketing Activity: Consistently changing, testing and mixing your marketing activities can be a valuable way to see what works, what doesn’t and what type of result it produces.

We have found a great-deal of success in utilizing prospecting services such as to gather potential lead's email addresses and then reach out with direct-ways that you could benefit their businesses.

Also, once you have built up a reel that is pertinent to a specific industry, I have found it helpful to search for upcoming tradeshows and then contact large companies that you know will be attending and offer your services.

Translation: I am starting a cake company. Can someone tell me how to bake?

sorry, man. Couldn't resist but you have to see the irony here.

One could argue that one's ability to bake has only a little to do with the success of one's new cake company :-).

step 1: become required with your current clientele.
step2: let hem be your sales force. Never put that tie on.
step3: fullfill.
step4: now that you are overbooked, raise your rates and work less. This is the most important thing to to remember.
