I am trying to stretch a music selection for a client in Audition CC and not having much success. I have the music clip (.WAV) in a multitrack session, Global Clip Stretching is on. I stretch the clip, Realtime, Polyphonic is engaged, and when I play the lengthened clip, it sounds slowed down. I am new to Audition but from the tutorials I have read and watched, I was under the impression that after going through what I just described, the lengthened clip should keep the pitch and sound normal.
Can anyone help me figure out what I am doing wrong. Thanks a lot.
Short answer - use the "Pitch" setting in the Properties panel that pops up when you right-click the clip and select "Stretch->Stretch Properties..." This will get your music back up to the same pitch it was. But really, you stretched the length of time that it is playing - of course it's slowed down. What you want to do is loop it by repeating the part of the music that you want to hear again in the same rhythm as before - that's tougher than it sounds.
Thanks John. I have found a way to please the client without needing to stretch the music. For the sake of my own investigation, I am continuing my pursuit of how to do this. Yes, as you indicate, stretching the clip would of course slow it down, but in the tutorials below, they seem to say that when "Global Clip Stretching" is "On" it would automatically compensate for the stretching (or shortening). Never as easy as it seems. Thanks again for your response John.
