Conform PNG/TIF using EDL in Flame/Smoke
on Jan 7, 2016 at 3:53:11 am

Hi All

- Flame Premium 2015
- 1920x1080 / 50i / Longform project

Currently on Flame Premium 2015 and have a bunch of subtitles (w/alphas) supplied originally as TIFs (then for testing purposes, converted to PNG).

I want to conform these to my timeline but having little success. The best i got was PNGs populating a few clips, but the clips contained all of the single frame subtitle frames, rather than taking each subtitle frame and filling the duration of each timeline clip.

Any help much appreciated!

Thanks
Kristian

Update…

I resolved this by pulling the EDL into FCP7 and exporting an XML.

Loaded the exported XML in the Flame conform tab and it found the media (58 tifs with embedded alpha).

Interestingly, I also edited the XML file path (where I'd pointed FCP to the media on its storage) to be the local Flame storage. Didn't make any difference. All that mattered for the XML was the Filename of the TIF.

All good… As long as you have FCP7 handy.

Question is: Why the EDL didn't work...

Cheers
Kristian
