Handles on Time-warp keyframes
on Jan 17, 2015 at 10:12:36 am

Hi guys,

I had the pleasure working with some complex time remapping last week and I kinda had to fake my way around it.
So i wanted to confirm my findings or ask for a better way.
Imagine a helicopter shot, professional recording from 1000 feet up.
The camera is zoomed in all the way down to a garden.
The camera op now zooms up using the motor to a full picture...this takes like 5 seconds.
In the AVID the editor added some intense speed changes, starting at 10% for like 5 seconds, then 300%, back to 30%, then 300% and then resting on 100%.
I not only used the pretty convincing new fluid motion renderer, he also embedded the source TC for me in the pic so I had a guideline.
In my attempts to recreate it I stumbled upon the fact that both in Timeline and ConnectFX my keys in the Time-warp tools have no handles.
At least I was unable to break keyframes or change em to smooth.
I ended up smoothing out the curve the old fashion way, a key per frame.
Is there really no way to soften a time curve or was i just a little blind ?

Hi,

You should be able to do this in the animation curves.

You could either use the BREAK cursor to split the keyframe or you change the interpolation of the keyframe and break that as well.

The tangents (handles) should be the same with all the creative tools.

Grant

Hi Grant,

After trying a couple of different combination of Tangents, Interpolation and checking through my Preferences I found a way.
Thanks for the good karma, again :)
