NEW Autodesk Smoke Video - Colour Warper - Mid-Tones Trackball!
on Jan 23, 2014 at 3:37:27 pm

Hi All,

I have posted a new video showing the workflow of using the Mid-Tones Trackball in the Colour Warper.

At first, it seems that it functions like the Highlights and Shadows Trackballs but on closer examination, the Mid-Tones Trackball works quite differently.

Enhance your grades!!!

Hi Grant.
I'd like to point out to you, that the information you provided describing the difference between the way Smoke's color warper works in comparison to the "traditional" color correctors may not be entirely correct. You had mentioned, that "traditional" color corrector systems while grading, affects both luminance and color channels at the same time. Resolve always had been an YRGB device, so it is entirely possible to work with all 4 channels, or if desired, you can easily separate Y from RGB for separate controls. Baselight also has an YRGB mode, if operator wishes to work in this manner...

Hi Jake,

Thanks for your feedback.

I was only making reference to the colour corrector in Smoke and its functions.

The point was more about how you get different looks if you tried the same thing between the colour corrector and colour warper.

I know that other grading systems have similar functionalities but its never intentional to draw references to them unless I mention the products by name.

Too often, I have seen things turn into a "mud-slinging" match and that is something I try to avoid.

Thanks for your response.

Regards
Grant

Hey David,

I love the old colour correct.

Sometimes I find it easier to solve colour correction issues using basic colour correction logic which we get in the colour corrector.

The colour warper also gives amazing control.

I find myself trying both to see which one gives me the best result… All the fun of having so many options :)

Hope you are well.

Regards
Grant
