I just saw a Lynda.com training tweet for Smoke 2013 and went online to confirm this...wow!
I just spent a week learning FCP X and getting used to the idea of looking like I'm editing in iMovie. But I'm good at Maya and the idea of editing in an Autodesk product that LOOKS like a professional's tool? I'm blown away. I can't wait to learn more about it. *stoked*
I wouldn't be too stoked. That's one extreme to the other - fast broad and made for grandma, to slow clunky and made for small changes in the online. Try Premiere, Lightworks or (my own choice) Avid if you want a straight serious editor. All are cheaper than smoke by a mile - of course they're not compositors just editors - but good ones.
