Two-frames transparency animation problem with motion blur
on Dec 23, 2013 at 7:46:37 pm

Hi all,

I'm using Smoke 2013 on two machines and both present the same error.

I'm doing a transparency animation from one frame to the next, from 100% to 0% or 0% to 100% (to show or hide an image in my comp) AND turning on the motion blur (because of other axis animations).

But a hard cut doesn't happen. The render shows the next (or previous) image in transparency (something like 5 or 10%), as if the motion blur calculates image transparency animation of one frame to another.

I never saw that before. The motion blur should be active just in axis animation, not image transparency.

Anyway, I'd like to hear from you guys, because it is really giving me more work than before to sort it out, like separating in two actions, to bypass this problem.

Thx!

PS: I'm sorry if I didn't make myself clear. Not a native speaker.

Try and set the keyframe Interpolation to CONSTANT to get your hard cut via Transparency.

Thanks for the reply.

I just tried that, the problem persists. Very annoying.

I also made an entire new simple composition where I get two images and make a simple transparency animation from one frame to the next, turn on the motion blur and I get the same problem.

Seems like a bug to me.

maybe your key frames exist on sub frames, have you tried selecting your key frames and choosing' frame snap' from the animation tools?

Thanks but no success. The keyframes are in integer frames.

Is it just me? Anyone experiencing this render error?

Otherwise I'm pretty sure it's a bug. I never saw that in previous versions.
