we are working on a music video shot 5K on the RED Epic.
Grading has been done in Resolve and DPX exports in 1920 have been used as source for the SMOKE project.
The smoke project consists of the 120 shots and they all have some treatment like grains, glows and lens flares.
There are rumours it might make it to some IMAX screens , so I would like to deliver the best possible quality.
Now we are wondering what would be the best way to migrate the project to 5K.
Can I reuse the work I did on the HD project or is it better to save the CFX and load em into the 5K project ?
Should I export with the same name and to the same location in 5K or better relink clip by clip from a new place ?
Do i need to generate proxies to be able to play and see stuff in realtime ?
As all attempts to load 5K materiel resulted in severe crashing I decided to go with double HD aka 3840 which is running fine.
I will manually replace the shots to a second timeline into the project which i changed to be 3840.
Seems like manually copied CFX inherit the relative values for trackers...
I came across this post because I'm searching for a solution to my 5k problem. I'm certain our graphics card and and everything are the right specs for Smoke 14, but I also have instant crashes just to view anything 5k.
