the Lanczos down-scaling with adaptive field processing in Smoke2013
is the best software-scaling I've ever seen!
A huge compliment to Autodesk's engineering!
Other vendors with their rediculous Bicubic algorithms should take a leaf out of AD's book!
For me it seems Smoke's (interlaced) scaling produces sharper images than dedicated HW-scalers,
but at the same time don't suffer too much from artifacts; thought HW-scalers are a little
better in this regard...
Please could anyone with a Kona3(G) confirm my impressions?
(For adaptive field processing You need to nest a HD into a SD sequence
and activate 'Adaptive' in the Resize controls; Adaptive means there is a
step of de-interlacing in between, converting every field into a full frame before scaling;
or put simply: Autodesk makes it right!)
