Rendering/Working with SoftFX in Timeline
on Aug 17, 2013 at 4:50:02 am

Hi All,

I'm working in Smoke 2013, and client wants to be able to see 2:35 letterbox on all of the shots in the sequence, and turn it off and on at will...codec is 1920x1080p footage from Maya, stored locally on a Pegasus Promise.

My solution was to simply layer an empty clip with a softFX letterbox effect on top of my sequence, but Smoke requires a re-render for many of the edits I need to perform - is there a way I can force Smoke to push out a RAM preview, or so I can edit and view without rendering?

Feel like Smoke and my machine definitely have the power to accomplish this with such a simple effect - any ideas?

Thanks,

harrison

while in the player click on the options dropdown on the right change it to overlays and in the letterbox dropdown change it there, no render required
