Smoke on Mac with 4K files problem
on Jul 11, 2012 at 7:45:31 pm

Our Primatte chromakeyer for Smoke on Mac is working fine at a customer's facility with HD files. When he tries to work with a 4K file, he gets a 'invalid license' error. Does anyone know if SOM accesses a different CPU or a remote rendering station with a different MacAddress when using 4K files and this is causing the problem?
Thanks.

The only thing that might cause an error, that I can think of, is that I believe that Smoke for Mac only supported up to HD 1080 output to tape. I can't point to this directly, but it sticks in the back of my mind.

However, you could file export large files. Perhaps the spark plugin API is bugged by this. But it sounds more like a bug than a true limitation.

the Primate web site has this to say....

PRIMATTE for Autodesk sparks now uses Reprise License Manager (RLM) instead of FlexNet.

PHOTRON USA, Inc., would like to announce that the floating license issues with Autodesk Flame 2010 (and newer) has been resolved by switching to the Reprise License Manager system. Any users having this problem can now upgrade to the latest version of sparkPrimatte and get a new license that will make sparkPrimatte ‘float’ again.

Thanks, Brian. In this instance, the user is using a NodeLocked license, not the Reprise floating license manager so that is not an issue.
It may be the file size issue. I am trying to reach Autodesk to ask about this.
Your feedback is much appreciated.
