Hi Stanley.

This means that vic (the Volume Integrity Check utility) was unable to run.

To find what caused vic to crash, open a Terminal and take a look at the vic log. Type this command:
cat /usr/discreet/log/vic.log

hope this helps,
Robert.

No that didn't help at all. No such file or directory was the message I got back.

That means vic didn't even get to create its log file.
Let's try to troubleshoot this by looking at the two main causes of vic errors: leftover project lock files or incompatible libraries.

-> Did smoke crash or did you force it to exit last time you've used it? Did any other workstations on your network remotely open a project from this smoke machine?
-> Do you have more than one version of Smoke running on your computer? Did you get this error when trying to open the older version?

Robert.

It all got wacky when I install the 2013 demo on my system, I no longer have 2013 then I reinstall 2012 and still getting the error.

It is most likely seeing the project and/or media from Smoke2013. It cant access them anymore, so it will give you that error messsage.

Ok, it makes sense now. I imagine you've created projects in Smoke 2013 that vic now finds and complains about.
Perform these tasks to delete the smoke 2013 projects:

1. Open the Terminal app from the Applications > Utilities folder.
2. Type the following command:
/usr/discreet/io/2013.1.alpha6/bin/cmtool
3. The prompt should have changed to "cmtool>". Type the following command:
open volume stonefs7
4. Type the following command to get the list of projects:
ls
5. Now repeat the following command for every project you have created in Smoke 2013 (replace [name] with the actual name):
delete project [name]
6. When you're done, type the following command to exit cmtool:
quit
7. Close the Terminal and try running Smoke again.

Hope this works!
Robert.

What I had to do was right click on the Smoke icon (Show Content) then from the Discreet folder I deleted all of the 2013 projects and folders. Problem solved.

Thanks Again.
