I am trying to decide between eizo CG243 or HP DreamColor display (connected directly to Mac Pro via graphics card and not via Aja Kona I/O board). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. This is of course for running smoke on mac.
Not looking to replace my broadcast monitor (an HD CRT), but this is to be able to work with accurate colors while i am settings things up (for design, or grade, etc), without having to power up the CRT all the time (as an effort to extend its life as i still love the picture on the tube).
Both Eizo and HP models have REC-709 space preset. I am wondering which one of them has the most accurate emulation and better black levels. Also, anyone using REC-709 space preset on their computer monitor? Does that turn the smoke UI darker? And can we even trust the graphics card's output at all for color accuracy?
I couldn’t find on eizo’s site if their panel is LED or RGB LED (like the HP Dreamcolor) which i read somewhere that is better for black levels.
