NEW 4KAY STORY POST: Smoke 2012 - Action: Volumetric & Edge Ray Lighting
I have posted a new Blog on the 4Kay story!!! Action: Volumetric Lighting & Edge Rays.
This is the first of many amazing new features crammed into 2012 of Smoke for Mac OSX. I would like to point out that we have announced version 2012 but it is not shipping.
If you download the trial, student or commercial version of Smoke for Mac OS - it will be the current shipping version 2011.
Don't worry we will let you know when we start shipping but these videos will definitely get the creative juices flowing as well as help you start learning how to use these tools to the best of your ability!!!!
This week we'll start examining the 3D lighting tools in action.
For those of you who are not familiar with volumetric lighting, essentially it refers to bright light visible in a dense atmosphere. We have all seen visible beams of light in reality. For example think of light rays shining through clouds, tree tops or a window.
In Smoke's action 3D compositor you can turn lights into volumetric lights with loads of creative potential.
In the next videos, I will show you how to apply these tools and tweak the settings to get an amazing result instantly.
A word for the stereoscopic folk, because the lighting system works in 3D space, it works quite comfortably when doing stereoscopic compositing!
