SD to HD and a little bit of GRAIN
on Feb 28, 2011 at 5:08:47 pm

Hi,
smoke SP4 on a MacPro here...
i need to make a copy of a SD clip (1024x576) in FullHD format (1920x1080)... I know it´s a crime doing this way but at lest to be a "passable" clip i am doing this... The content of the clip 20" seconds of motion graphics and video in background tv show intro.

The project was done in After Effects and there´s no budget for re-doing it all in FullHD... so, i just need to double its size with some sharpen effect.

In the action module a make a 1920 version of the SD clip scaling prop. XY 188%.
Theeeen... to get some "sharpen" on edges i use the re-grain module (Film tools) with 40+40 for the XY size values and a value of 4 for the RGB Grain. Result is ok, but is not the best way, i guess

my questions...
is there another way i am missing of adding "sharpen" to a clip inside smoke?
is there another way i am missing of doing a HD version of an SD 16/9 clip?

thanks

Alternative to resizing your clip; select and enable video and select the resize tool.
Alternative to sharpening; select and enable FX, click filter. Select clip that you want sharpened. Once in the module hit load and you should get a list of filters. Select from 3 different levels of sharpening.
