Smoke + MC Color = Lag

I have read that there is a lag when using the MC Color with Smoke, which doesn't sound like a great experience and would annoy the hell out of me.

Why the lag?
Are the drivers just not up to it?

Hi Rory,

Good to see that you are always on the ball with everything Smoke :)

I have got a MC Color and MC Transport panel in front on me.

Depending on how you have your caching set up in the smoke timeline will determine how the panel behaves. It is simply one hot-key or UI button on/off.

When caching is turned off all the reactions with the MC Color are real-time. When caching is turned on there might be a half second to second delay as Smoke caches up the change that has been done to the clip. Since Colour correction can be seen in real-time, caching is not really required but its up to you how you choose to work.

This is no biggie as switching the cache on or off really is one button and not an issue.

I would be interested in knowing where you read this about Smoke and the MC Color so that I may relay this information as well.

Regards
Grant

Hi Grant

Thanks for your input.

I think it was on REDUser that I read the feedback about the MC Color having a lag.

Do you know if the Linux version supports the MC Color or if there is plans to do so, seems the logical thing to have both the Mac and Linux versions have the same advances.

And I'm sure the Flame Premium guys would like a cost effective controller to work with in Lustre too

Hi Rory,

Thanks for that!

The MC Color panel only is support on Smoke for Mac.

I agree with you on the platform issue but it's currently not supported on Linux because there are no Euphonix drivers for Linux so it's not even up to us.

Many thanks!

Grant
