SAN disappears after install Smoke 2011 on mac
on Aug 18, 2010 at 5:34:10 pm

Hi there,

Before install smoke 2011 on mac, everything works just fine, after install, SAN storage disapears everytime system restart. I have to run xsand manually to mount the SAN volume. Uninstall smoke, SAN comes back.

Mac Pro/10.6.3/Xsan 2.2/Smoke on mac 2011 SP3.

Thank in advance.

Leo

It might be a 64 bit issue, by default after installing Smoke it will reboot in the 64 bit kernel. Make sure your SAN has the appropriate drivers

Smoke2011 requests kernel in 32 bit, not 64 bit, according to Smoke installation guide. And Xsan client works fine until we install Smoke.

Hi

I had this problem when we got Smoke also.

Eventually I removed XSAN.

If you have the Stone set to your Xsan volume then Smoke creates the dir before Xsan does. This means Xsan cannot mount the volume. It also creates a heap of problems with Xsan internal processes.

Cheers
