Smoke Mac - 'original Mac Pro' 8 core compatibility?
on Feb 25, 2010 at 10:08:13 am

Hi there everyone,

Just wanted to see if anybody could confirm this question, as I have access to the very first Mac Pro 8 core (3.0ghz) and wondering if Smoke would work fine on it. At first glance it would appear not, however the Autodesk specs say cpu type: Intel 5000 series - which the original 8 core is.

Anybody have any thoughts on this?

thanks,

Oliver

Here's a copy and paste from the Autodesk website:

"Autodesk® Smoke® 2010, for the Mac OS X operating system requires the following supported hardware specifications:

Workstation:
Mac® PRO 2008 or 2009

Smoke only runs on the Intel® Mac machines.
CPU:
8 core

CPU Type:
Intel Xeon 5000 or higher"

I think it will. If your mac is 5000 series then it should. You can always download the 30 day trial and see if it works...

I've heard of people getting it to "run" on a macbook pro...
