Unpremultiplied image sequence problem
on Jan 4, 2010 at 11:43:54 am

Hello,

I'm having an issue with 3D rendered image sequence imported to Smoke. The problem is the image sequence is rendered with UNpremultiplied alpha channel (straight) and I get black outline around it - Smoke just seems to MUST premultiply imported clips. Could anybody tell me how to import unpremultiplied image sequence to Smoke so it understands the footage is NOT premultiplied?

ps. No, I cannot render it again premultiplied if one asks :)

Thanks,
Benio

Have you tried an additive key?

It's only 30 seconds, how hard can it be?

try logic ops.... divide the alpha by its fill...or multiply the alpha by its fill, cant remember off the top of my head which one it would be

or you could jump into the keyer within action and pull up the bottom left blending curve, htis usually gets rid of the black fringing as well

If you are doing this comping in Action you can click the DIVIDE option in the media layer. Or do a Logic Op devide of the front and matte to create a new front unpremultiplied.
