Importing and Previewing Media (Smoke on Mac)

Sorry for my ignorance folks. I have a couple of questions about Smoke on Mac.

1) Apps like FCP and Premiere Pro have direct support for AJA and Decklink providing external previewing. They also provide capturing video. How would you accomplish this on Smoke for Mac?

2) Is there a list of video formats that Smoke for Mac supports for importing?

1. The Kona functions pretty much the same in Smoke as it does in FCP. You use it to capture, output and monitor.

2. The Smoke can take in various forms of quicktime (more forms on the Mac then it can on Linux) tiffs, dpx, photoshop, jpeg, targa to name a few.

Great, thanks! I didn't realize Smoke on Mac supports AJA. Is there a spec sheet somewhere?

AJA is not only supported -- it's required. The AJA Kona 3 is the only video card qualified for Smoke on Mac. See the system requirements.
