FEC sparks beta available
on Jun 30, 2008 at 6:04:14 pm

Hi Folks,

We have posted the beta 1 build of the FEC (Final Effects Complete) sparks to our beta software download site and I'd like to encourage all of you to download these cool new sparks and give them a run on your systems. The installer can be downloaded by clicking on the link below:

http://borisfx.cachefly.net/borisfx/download_files/FEC-5.0-8177.x86_64.rpm

We would love to hear from you with regard to your comments on how well the sparks perform on your systems and should you discover additional issues that I have not listed here please send a note to the list detailing the issue so that we can all benefit from that knowledge. I have been testing the sparks in this build with flame and smoke 2009 versions and I realize that some of you might still be on 2008 systems - if so please let us know how the sparks operate within that environment.

There are over 100 speedy and gorgeous sparks in this product, each with many factory installed preset looks making short work of understanding and using the sparks. Almost all of the sparks in this package include compositing features such as front/back/matte clip inputs and a built-in pixel matte and region masking system, which can also accept input from gmask nodes and rendered pixel matte clips.

I look forward to your feedback.

Cheers,

Peter.

Hi David,

You should use the RPM command to install. Here's how:

In a shell become super user:

su

Navigate to the directory where you have placed the unzipped installer
file by typing the following command :

cd /(directory containing installer)

Then list the contents of the directory by typing the following command :

ls -al

Then run the installer by typing the following command :

rpm -i (FEC rpm installer name from list)

When the shell returns a prompt the FEC Sparks will be installed and are ready for use.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any trouble with this procedure or with use of the sparks. You can reach me here: peterm@borisfx.com

Cheers,

Peter.
