Stone FS Configuration

Hi:

We are having trouble with our Stone FS. One of our 10 disk is dead and we will like to deleted all the data, files etc. in the Stone and configure the drives from the begging.

Does anybody know if you can configure the Stone FS to work with less drives than 10? Can we remove the Dead drives physically form the box and just keep the good ones. And configure the Stone FS? Does anybody has some PDF that we can use to configure the Stones??? :-)

We are using Smoke 4.1.2 and the Stone FS 1.0.5

Any help will be really appreciated.

Thanks...

Here is the link to the docuemtation area of the autodesk site.

http://www1.discreet.com/site/documentation.nsf/documentation?OpenView&Star...

Thre is info on Smoke v4 there but SW docs only go back as far as v2.

I would think that you could just reconfig the drives with 9 disks... but it may be better with 8 depending on how they are arranged, ie: on different SCSIs. But I really have no idea about a config that old.

In your manuals with the system there is a booklet called "filesystem and networking". That has the info you need. Open a new shell, become root, then change directory to ./usr/discreet/sw. Then type sw_stop enter and sw_unmount enter. This stops and unmounts the drives. Then type sw_config enter. This shows you the drive system. You can then follow further directions in the book and it will tell you how to do what you want to do. Best of luck.

Thanks For the Info:

We found out that 2 of the disk were dead. Took them physically out of the box. We then Rearrange the disks and left the remaning 8 working drives.

we started the system did a Smoke -vir to initialize the framestore. Then we mounted the stones and everything is working fine now.

Thanks for the help.

Glad it's working for you now. We've been end of life on 2 stones for over a year and it's fun keeping them all working.
