I am working in a mocap studio and looking into upgrading our video reference setup. I have read a bit about this, but can't really find the right answers.
The setup I need is this:
1) 2 HD cameras (camcorder, DSLR or other) that constantly streams video to the videoPC.
I have looked into DSLR as I know a bit about that, but it seems like there's a few issues like overheating and not sending full HD (only viewscreen resolution).
2) Software that can show and capture both streams.
Trigger the start/stop REC over network from the mocapPC
If possible get a name for the take being recorded from mocapPC.
The mocap and video captures should be somewhat synchronized (start/stop). I have been told that it can be done without genlock and timecode without getting too much out of sync (if the frame offset is consistent for all takes, we can probably fix that in post by code).
3) It should be fairly cheap. We don't need super video quality as it is only for reference.
Has anyone done something similar? Any suggestions on cameras, videocards, software and other things more than welcome.
